The Malawi Institute of Tourism and the Mzuzu University’s Tourism Incubation Centre, under the Faculty of Tourism, Hospitality, and Management, are implementing the MUZI Ecosystem Initiative with financial and technical support from the German Development Cooperation (GDC), GIZ GmbH, under the More Income and Employment in Rural Areas (MIERA) Project, and through GOPA AFC GmbH.

Under this project, the two institutions will offer training, incubation, membership, and coaching services to tourism MSMEs to enhance access to information among youth and women entrepreneurs in the tourism sector.

The program is premised on the conviction that with improved access to information, innovative tourism enterprises will be strengthened, thereby creating more employment opportunities and consequently increasing income for people in rural areas.

The program is targeting tourism and hospitality entrepreneurs in Zomba, Salima, and Rumphi districts
