Thirteen local tour guides, including four women, completed a 5-day program supported by the African World Heritage Fund. Conducted by Lake Malawi National Park and co-facilitated by the Malawi Institute of Tourism, the initiative aims to boost eco-tourism at Lake Malawi National Park.

Lake Malawi National Park Manager, Talandira Kasapira, stressed the vital role of tour guides as the face of the park. Dennis Magodi, Head of Travel and Tourism Management at the Malawi Institute of Tourism, highlighted the training’s importance in bridging knowledge gaps. Beyond tourism, Magodi emphasized the guides’ role in national security.

Tour guide Kelvin Muthali shared, “For the past 6 years, I lacked knowledge. Now, after practical lessons, I can provide services without challenges.” Catherine Baluti echoed the sentiment, expressing gratitude for the in-depth knowledge acquired.
